The amount of comments downloaded doesn't match the count shown by Instagram

In most cases the amount of comments downloaded by our app won't match the count shown by the IG post right off the bat šŸ. This is because replies and comments without text (like GIF-only comments) are not included in on our side of the download.

But if you're sure none of the post comments have replies, or aren't GIFs, then it's also very possible that the count shown on the post is not accurate. In many occasions this happens do to one of four 4ļøāƒ£ cases:

  1. Delay in Updating Comments: Instagram may display the wrong number of comments due to delays in updating. When someone comments on your post, or you comment on someone else's, it can take a few seconds or minutes to appear.

  2. Deleted or Hidden Comments: Instagram may display errors if comments have been deleted or hidden. The platform enforces strict policies against hate speech, harassment, and bullying. Comments violating these guidelines may be removed or hidden from public view.

  3. Spam or Bot Comments: Spam or bot comments can also cause Instagram to display an incorrect comment count. Some users employ bots to post generic, irrelevant, or spammy comments on many posts at once, which don't add value to the content.

  4. Glitches or Bugs in Instagramā€™s Algorithm: Glitches in Instagram's algorithm are common and can lead to incorrect comment counts. The platform's complex and ever-changing algorithm may occasionally encounter bugs or glitches affecting comment numbers.
